Is It Worth It to Shop on The Online Clothing Store Romwe?
Recently you may have heard of the online store Romwe who is taking the public by storm. So is it worth shopping there? I tried it for myself.
Recently, I have been seeing a bunch of ads on the online store Romwe. Maybe you have too. I had a lot of questions buzzing through my mind about this website. I had heard about it before from various people, but the responses were always with mixed feelings, and different from person to person. Perhaps, the most appealing thing about this website was how low the prices were. Like seriously low, for what looked like pretty good clothes on their website. So I decided to give it a try for myself, and it turned out like this.
I’m going to break this down into a few different categories that I had questions on before I bought from the store. And I assume that you might have the same questions as a new guest to Romwe.
About Romwe
Romwe is an online E-commerce business, originally started in China. They have grown large enough to put up some warehouses around the world and in the U.S. In total, they have 5 warehouses, one in each place, California, New Jersey, China, Dubai, and Belgium.
The online platform is mainly directed to girls starting in their teens, all the way up to 30- year-old women, but in reality, anyone can shop there. They also have a small section for men and boy clothing. But nearly not as big as their women section. They are mainly known for their ridiculously low prices, but what they claim to be “good clothes.”
Romwe is not too clear on how many people have used and bought their products. However, based on some educated guesses, you can estimate that a good number of people have used the site and have given reviews.
The reviews are where, from an overall perspective, Romwe seems to have a bad side. There are reviews from not getting money back on returned items (although disclaimers said that they would). All the way to not the best quality type reviews. Surprisingly, there were also really good reviews. Some of them so enticing that they make you want to go and shop there right then and there.
So this is where I was confused, and I’m sure you are too if you have looked into buying from here. Due to this, I decided to try the store out for myself, and to share the news with you to help you make your decision on whether or not you would want to buy from here!
Before I start I just want to say that this was just my experience, everyone’s might differ depending on several things. This is just what I found happened to me!
Quality?
Now here is where I saw a lot of mixed reviews, and personally, I was most intrigued to find out what it was like for me. I have heard from people I know that it really just depends on the article of clothing you buy, but I have not heard anything about the clothing item being very different from that of the feature picture.
So here was my take on it. If you are a person who is extremely interested and involved with really high-quality brands. You probably would not be too interested in the idea of Romwe. Otherwise, if you were like me, and as long as it looks decent you are okay, then Romwe might be a check for you in the quality category. I didn’t see any major difference between the image and what I received. But then again, this was just my experience. Here is an image of what a few of the items looked like on the Romwe site.
The images from the Romwe site don’t look too bad. (Like expected). You can’t see any quality issues, and everything seems like it might be something that you would get from a professional website, the images are taken in solid backgrounds, and the lighting is also good.
So how did the actual items turn out?
As you can see, the difference is not too major. Now obviously, the pictures in the original Romwe website were taken with professional lighting and accurate positioning. However, if you look at the clothing items in person, it does not seems very different from the picture. Now, there are some loose strings on the tops that you can’t see in the pictures. Also if you look closely at the purple and white flower earrings, you can see that there are some chips in the paint. For the price of $1.45, I think those kinds of mistakes are okay.
On a couple of the items, you may notice that for the brand name it says “Shein.” So this brings me to my second topic.
Conspiracy
Lately, when it comes to the topic of Romwe, people also talk about the conspiracy it has with a brand called “Shein.” While a lot of people just dismissed the fact at the beginning, their concern grew as more and more products that were bought from Romwe, had the brand name “Shein” on it.
After looking in a bit, I found this from Quora.com.
“Now some of the products on romwe and shein are the same. Romwe has less stock compared to shein. On shein you will find a huge stock of clothes. Though the products are the same the price difference is huge.”
This does not directly answer our question, but it leads us to believe that Romwe and Shein are close partners. And after even further research. I found out that Shein and Romwe are in fact pretty close partners. Price points for both stores don’t differ too much. However, I do recommend checking out both sites pricing just to see if you can catch a better deal!
Shipping
For me, shipping is a big deal. For some of you too, I suspect the same.
On https://help.romwe.com/, I found this when I asked how long does it take to ship?
“Please allow 3–7 working days for processing your order before shipment(weekends and holidays not included). Please understand that the processing time (by our company) does not include the shipping time (by shipping company).Aug 4, 2020.”
They do claim it takes about a week to come, however on my experience, and on the experience of a bunch of other people, Romwe generally does take about 2 weeks. On top of all of that, I do live pretty close to one of the warehouses, so I expected a lower amount of shipping time.
For some people though, I have heard that it took about a month to ship. However, generally, this does not happen.
So at the end of the day, it is your call whether or not 2 weeks to a month is okay for you. In my personal experience, shipping was my biggest concern, and it could be yours too.
Variety
The last thing that I would like to tell you a little bit about is variety. For a lot of shoppers, this is mainly something that might turn them down. But, I am happy to say that in my opinion, Romwe has many kinds of different styles to choose from. Look at the differences in the images below.
As you can see, these are just 3 different tops. They have a huge selection. So variety is not an issue for me. They claim to have 3 different types of major styles which are, “Girly Girl,” “Edgy Girl,” and “Chill Girl.”
So to sum it all up, to me, Romwe is not a bad place to shop. However, what I’ve learned from this experience is that everyone's time with the store is a little bit different. I would love to know if you have ever tried shopping here, or are planning to. In the end, it’s your choice, and I hope you have the best experience.
